The Lodi station (Italian: Stazione di Lodi ) is the railway station in the northern Italian city of Lodi. It is operated by the Company CentoStazioni, a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato, which is responsible for a total of 103 medium sized stations.

The train station is on the railway line operated by RFI Milan - Bologna.

Location

The station is located in the city center, south of the old town, and has a total of five platform tracks. The station building is a Typenbau the SFAI, which was also built in other concurrent Lombard stations (Lecco, Mantova, Pavia and Varese).

History

The station was in 1861, opened as the main railway station of the section Milan - Piacenza ..

The plans to build more railway lines ( to Brescia and Pavia in the 1860s, and to Treviglio in the 1930s ) were never built; however, led from 1880 to 1918 from the station two routes of overland tram network TIP: Lodi Crema Soncino and Lodi Sant'Angelo Lodigiano who had only local significance.

Since the Second World War, the commuter traffic to Milan has generously developed.

At the Lodi Station stop many intercity trains, regional trains as well as the Quick Milan -Bologna Trenitalia.

Trenord

The Lombard railway company Trenord offers regional train Milan - Piacenza, at hourly interval services, and Regio Express Milan - Mantova, two hourly service at regular intervals. The train station is Lodi since December 13, 2009 end of the line S1 of the suburban railway network of Milan, halbstündlichem clock traffic.
