Vasilis Torosidis

Vasilios Torosidis (Greek Βασίλης Τοροσίδης, born June 10, 1985 in Xanthi ) is a Greek football player.

Career

Torosidis began his career at Aris Petinou thereafter he moved to Skoda Xanthi, where he belonged to the senior squad in 2002. In the 2005/06 season and in the season 2006/ 07 he took part with Skoda Xanthi in the UEFA Cup. In January 2007, he joined Olympiakos Piraeus, where he signed a contract until 2011. In 2007 he was with Olympiakos Piraeus Champion 2008 and 2009 and took the double. In the 2007 /08 season he first came in the Champions League action.

On January 23, 2013 Torosidis joined the Italian first division club AS Roma.

National

Torosidis debuted on March 24, 2007 in the Greek national football team in the game against Turkey. He was also the Greek squad of European Football Championship in 2008 and played the first two group games against Sweden and Russia through, but came in the last group match against the eventual champions Spain not used. With the Football World Cup 2010 in South Africa Torosidis was used in all three group games and also scored the 2-1 winning goal in the match against Nigeria, the first Greek victory at the World Cup finals ever.
