Vauconcourt - Nervezain is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Vauconcourt - Nervezain situated at an altitude of 225 m above sea level, about 25 km west of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the west of the département, in the rolling countryside of north west of Saônetals, in the Talniederung the Gourgeonne.

The area of ​​18.43 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the region of the plateau north of the Saônetals. History

Is first mentioned in 1108 as Vauconcourt Wascum curtis. Later, the names Vasconcort ( 1156 ), Wasuncurt ( 1172 ), Wascuncort ( 1175 ) and Vasoncourt ( 1275 ) followed. The place name derives from the Germanic personal name Wasco and the old French word Cortem (Hof ) from. In the Middle Ages Vauconcourt and Nervezain belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The sovereignty over the territory had initially served the Lords of Fouvent that in 1207 the monastery Cherlieu a part of the property left over, after which the family Vergy. The local noble family named Vauconcourt is occupied by the 12th to the 14th century. Came together with the Franche- Comté Vauconcourt and Nervezain with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Attractions

The village church of Vauconcourt originally dates from the 13th century, but has been modified several times in the 17th and 18th centuries. A cross in the cemetery is dated to the year 1611. Additional points of interest include the former seat of power (16th century) in Vauconcourt, a mansion with turrets (17th century) in Nervezain and the Maison Roch.

Population

With 231 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) Vauconcourt - Nervezain one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 509 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the mid- 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Vauconcourt - Nervezain was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village.
