Velleguindry-et-Levrecey

Velleguindry -et- Levrecey is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Velleguindry -et- Levrecey situated at an altitude of 332 m above sea level, 8 km south-southwest of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, in a valley in the hilly landscape that stretches between the valleys of the Saone in the northwest and Ognon in the south, at the northern foot of the Bois du Chanois.

The area of ​​10:54 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the area hills east of Saônebeckens. The central part of the area occupied by the depression of Velleguindry which is on average 320 m. It has a width of about a kilometer and is oriented southwest-northeast direction. Here predominant agricultural use, while the surrounding hills are mostly covered with forest. Flanked the trough in the southeast of the tip of the Bois du Chanois, on the 455 m, the highest elevation of Velleguindry -et- Levrecey is achieved. On the north west side of the trough of the Bois de la Craye form (380 m) and the Bois de Chaux the demarcation. A saddle passes over to the southwest the basin of Levrecey. To the west, the municipality's area extends over the valley of Andelarre up on the ridge of the Bois Monsieur ( 376 m). The hilly area consists of limestone of the middle Jurassic period. On the whole municipality there are no surface watercourses, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground.

The double municipality consists of the villages Velleguindry (332 m) and Levrecey (331 m) at the northern edge of the Bois de Grand Mailley. Neighboring communities of Velleguindry -et- Levrecey are Andelarrot in the north, and Vellefaux Échenoz -le -Sec in the east, Le Magnoray and Mailley -et- Chazelot in the south and Baignes and Velle -le- Châtel in the West.

History

Traces from the Neolithic period indicate a very early settlement of the area. In the Middle Ages Velleguindry belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government has held the same noble family, whose existence is occupied from the 12th to the 16th century. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. To a field change occurred in 1807, when Velleguindry and Levrecey (1806: 145 inhabitants) merged to double community. Today Velleguindry -et- Levrecey is a member of the 22 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes des Combes.

Attractions

The village church of Velleguindry was built in 1774. It has a rich interior, including furnishings from the 18th century, a grave slab from the 16th century, statues dating from the 16th/17th. Century. From the 18th century the castle comes in Levrecey. 1871 an obelisk was erected as a memorial to those killed in the Franco-German War soldiers.

Population

With 158 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Velleguindry -et- Levrecey one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 241 persons were still counted ), a population growth was recorded since the early 1970s again. Since then, the population has almost doubled.

Economy and infrastructure

Velleguindry -et- Levrecey is still a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the larger towns of the agglomeration Vesoul.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that from the D474 ( Vesoul - Gray) leads to Vellefaux. Further road links exist with Mailley and Andelarrot.
