Vers (Haute-Savoie)

Verse is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Verse is located at 680 m above sea level. M., about 16 km southwest of the city of Geneva (air line). The village stretches a scenic location overlooking the Geneva basin on the northern slope of Mount Sion, in Genevois.

The area of ​​5.91 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the Genevois. The municipal area covers the headwaters of several streams that flow to the Laire. To the south, the area extends up the hillside lined with meadows of the Montagne de Sion. On the broad ridge is 818 m above sea level. M. reached the highest point of verse. To the west of the municipality floor extends into the Bois des Raynauds.

At verse alongside the original village also includes the hamlet settlements Bellossy (620 m above sea level. M. ) and Les Maisons Neuves ( 633 m above sea level. M. ) on the northern slopes of the Montagne de Sion. Neighboring communities of verse are Viry to the north, and Présilly Andilly in the east, Cernex, Minzier and Jonzier - Épagny in the south and Chênex in the West.

Attractions

The village church of verse was built in the Gothic Revival style. The municipality's ground is also the chapel of Notre Dame des Voyageurs is located.

Population

With 736 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) verse is one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. Since the early 1970s, a continuous population growth was recorded thanks to the attractive residential area.

Economy and infrastructure

Verse was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by farming village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. Many employed persons are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the area, especially in the Geneva - Annemasse, their work.

The village has a good infrastructure. It is located near the secondary road D992, which runs from Saint -Julien -en- Genevois on the Montagne de Sion to Seyssel. Further road links exist with Valleiry, Andilly, Feigères and Chavannaz.
