The Vevey railway station is a hub for public transport in the Swiss town of Vevey on Lake Geneva. At the Geneva section of the Swiss Railways, close to the track here Vevey- Puidoux- Chexbres and the meter gauge line of the MVR.

History

The station was opened on April 2, 1861 as part of the route opening Lausanne -Villeneuve today Simplon railway.

1902, the operation was taken at today's MVR narrow-gauge line to Blonay; 1904 also narrow-gauge track to Châtel -Saint -Denis opened to traffic. In the same year, the VCH- line was opened to Puidoux- Chexbres station on the railway line Lausanne- Bern. The narrow gauge line to Châtel -Saint -Denis in 1969, decommissioned and replaced by the number 13 bus VMCV. 2013, the VCH was taken over by SBB.

Location

The train station is about 300 meters north of the lakeside marketplace. In the immediate vicinity is the shopping malls Centre Saint -Antoine and Midi- Coindet one of the largest shopping facilities in western Switzerland. In the old Post Office building next to the train station is located a Coop Pronto branch among others.

Plant

Similar to the Montreux train station platform, the transition to home is not located on the ground floor of the station building, but the first floor. The track system comprises in addition a number of freight tracks one side and two medium Perrons.

The tracks 1 and 3 are the SBB traffic of the Simplon railway Reserved (track 2 is missing), from track 5 - which 4 on the center platform is the platform 3 and the short track, runs the Train des Vignes as S31 to Puidoux - Chexbres. The center platform with the tracks 6 ( standard gauge ) and 7 ( meter gauge ), which forms a small curve in the western part, is usually used only to transport the MVR to Blonay and Les Pleiades.
