Victims of the Future is the fifth solo album by Northern Irish hard rock and blues guitarist Gary Moore. It was released in January 1984 and was an international success with chart positions in different countries. The album is now considered the hardest of the guitarist and was elected "300 best hard'n'heavy releases of all time " by Rock Hard in 2001 at No. 183.

Formation

After almost a year world tour for Corridors of Power ( 1982), Moore was able to make the preparations for a new album in mid- 1983. He wrote the songs for the most part themselves, but also involved were the members of his touring band, Ian Paice, Neil Murray and especially Neil Carter. For the recording we went to London in October to the Town House, where it initially had problems with new equipment. Probably because Murray soon got in Whitesnake, Moore had the bass tracks partly take over themselves, let some import by Bob Daisley and Mo Foster. Paice was supplemented by Bobby Chouinard on drums. A scheduled guest appearance by Ozzy Osbourne came to illness not materialize.

The December 1983 until finished album was even a bit harder than its predecessor. In addition to aggressive hard rock songs like Murder In The Skies, or the gloomy The Law of the Jungle it contains with Empty Rooms but also one of the most famous ballads of the guitarist. Shapes of Things is a cover of the Yardbirds. As the album title was originally The Law of the Jungle in conversation, because you Victims of the Future but held for the much better song, named Moore the album finally after him.
