Viktor Ahn

Viktor Ahn ( russ. Виктор Ан; engl transcription Viktor Ahn ), formerly Ahn Hyun- soo ( born November 23, 1985 in Seoul ) is a South Korean short track speed skating Russian - runner for his native South Korea and 2014 for each of Russia 2006 three Olympic gold medals won.

Career

At the Olympic Winter Games in Turin in 2006, he won gold medals on the routes 1500 meters and 1000 meters. On the thousand meters distance he improved the Olympic record 1:26,739. Ahn Hyun -soo was also part of South Korea's 5,000 - meter relay team that won gold at the 2006 Winter Olympics. With three gold medals and one bronze medal Ahn was the most successful participants in the Olympic Winter Games 2006. Ahn is a five-time Overall World Champion from 2003 to 2007 and holds the world record over 1500 meters.

Change to Russia

He injured his hard before the 2010 Olympics and was unable to attend. His association wanted him in connection no longer nominate, but he insisted on further operations, so he finally decided to start for another country. Since 2011 he is a Russian citizen.

In 2014 he won at the Olympic Games Gold 1000 meters, about 500 meters and the 5000 meter relay with the Russian team. It was the first gold medals in short track speed skating for Russia. He also won the bronze medal over 1500 meters. With a total of six gold medals Ahn is by far the most successful Shorttracker at the Olympic Games.
