Vilgertshofen

Vilgertshofen is a community in the Upper Bavarian district of Landsberg am Lech and a member of the administrative community Reichling.

The approximately 2500 inhabitants, municipality consists of the villages of Issing ( Vilgertshofen ) ( with Ziegelstadl and high- riding), Mundraching, Pflugdorf and barn ( with wife Wies and the eponymous pilgrimage Vilgertshofen ).

Geography

The community Vilgertshofen is in the field of so-called Lechrain between Landsberg am Lech, Schongau and Weilheim, directly on the eastern shores of the Lech high.

The center of the community which are almost directly adjacent villages Pflugdorf and barn. Two kilometers to the south is the hamlet Vilgertshofen, a little further southeast Issing ( with the highest elevation of the church, the basement mountain). In the Lech Valley itself, in the far west of the church, lies the village Mundraching.

The municipal area includes the Mundrachinger Lech loop, gravel heaps of Lech part shores, glacial moraines, gutters and gravel surfaces as well as some raised bogs in Issing.

History

History

Burial mounds from the Hallstatt period indicate pre-Celtic settlement in the municipality. Today's villages go to the bajuwarisch - Alemannic land acquisition ( -Ing endings: Issing, Mundraching ) in the 6th century and the subsequent first expansion phase ( Pflugdorf, barn, Vilgertshofen ) back.

Initially located in the territory of the Guelphs and the Counts of Andechs - Unterdießen, includes the villages since the 13th century to wittelsbachisch - baierischen District Court Landsberg. Village Renewal

Since October 2006, the village renewal process runs for all five districts of the municipality Vilgertshofen. As a guiding principle, the motto was " Five places to pull together " is selected. Attractions

  • The Sanctuary " to the Sorrowful Mother of God" in Vilgertshofen is one of the most important churches in Lech Rains.
