History
First traces of settlement in the local area polling date from the 4th millennium BC In the tufa quarries coming back for pottery and tools from this period revealed. Parts of it are also on display in Museum of Local History and polling in the State Archaeological Collection in Munich.
According to legend, polling was founded around the year 750. Duke Tassilo III. of Bavaria was chasing a doe in the area. This stopped at once and pawed the ground. There was then found three wooden crosses. At this point, built Duke Tassilo then the Benedictines and later Augustinian Canons Monastery polling.
In the monastery church is actually placed a wooden cross, but which is derived according to studies at the earliest from the 9th century. Probably was the founder of the monastery members of Huosi, a local noble family. The first written records date from the 11th century.
The place itself was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark whose seat until 1803, the Monastery was polling. Together with the monastery Hofmark was repealed in 1803, erected in 1818, the current community.
Incorporations
On May 1, 1978, the previously independent municipalities Oderding and Etting were incorporated in the course of municipal reform.

Policy
For the local elections 2008 on March 2, Helmut Böhm was the winner. Böhm continues with 52.44 percent ( 915 votes) by Paul against Searchlight ( 47.56 percent, 830 votes). Kollig the Independent Electoral Roll polling Etting Oderding and voters Community Oderding was for the CSU, started, Boehm was the candidate of choice Community polling. Böhm took over from Dominic White ( choice community), who was for 18 years mayor of the municipality. Currently, the following distribution of seats in the 16-member council shall:
The municipal tax revenue amounted to the equivalent of 1209 T € in 1998, which amounted to the trade tax revenues ( gross) equivalent to € 230k.

Economy, agriculture and forestry
There were 1998 in the field of agriculture and forestry 8, in the production sector and 230 in the area of trade and transport 53 persons work at the workplace.
