Vladimir Ukhov

Vladimir Vasilyevich Uchow (Russian: Владимир Васильевич Ухов, English transcription Vladimir Vasilyevich Ukhov, . Born January 21, 1924 in Leningrad, Soviet Union at that time; † 25 May 1996) is a former Soviet mountaineers, who in 1954 became European Champion.

In the 50 km walk of the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952, he was sixth with a half minutes behind the third-placed Antal Róka from Hungary in 4:32:51,6 hours. A month later, on August 29 Uchow in Leningrad with 4:20:30 hours, a world record, and retained by almost three minutes under the old record of Czechoslovaks Josef Dolezal.

In 1954 he won at the European Athletics Championships in Bern in 4:22:11,2 hours with three minutes ahead of Dolezal. Róka had nine minutes behind in third place.

Uchow put his best performance of 4:11:23 hours on in 1956, but could not yet qualify for the 1956 Olympics.
