Vrakuňa

Vrakuňa ( until 1948 slovak " Verekne "; German question village, Hungarian Vereknye ) a formerly independent town and current neighborhood in the east of Bratislava, with about 19,000 inhabitants.

Description and History

The district consists of a mixture of the old village and modern skyscrapers. North of the Little Danube, a river arm of the Danube, there is a park ( Lesopark Vrakuňa ).

But the location was in 1279 for the first time and was called to 1948 Slovak Verekne. On January 1, 1972, the City of Bratislava City was incorporated and has been one of the neighborhoods.
