Výsluní

Vysluni ( German Sonneberg ) is a city in the Czech Republic. It is 9 km south of the border crossing Reitzenhain at 750 m altitude on the plateau of the Ore Mountains and belongs to the Okres Chomutov on. Vysluni is known by the ridiculed as Cathedral of the Ore largest church in the upper Ore Mountains, which dominates the city and is widely visible on the southern slopes of the mountains in the North Bohemian Basin.

History

Sonnenberg was born at the beginning of the 16th century as a mining settlement, had discovered iron ore deposits by the miners during the exploration of the upper Ore Mountains there. The first written reference to the town dates from 1547. 1565 Sonnenberg received city rights, and in 1584 the privileges of a mountain town.

During the Thirty Years' War, the Swedes burned the city on March 27, 1640 all the way down, only three Chaluppen survived the conflagration.

The ore mining on the plateau above the valley of the creek villages Brunner was sunk so far in the 19th century that in 1862 the last mine was shut down. The inhabitants lived on the craft, next to a metal brawl and saw mills focused mainly on the basketry the main industry in the city dar. From the middle of the 19th century formed Sonnenberg a municipality in the district court Sebastian mountain or District Chomutov.

1872 Sonnenberg received trace connection to the railway line Komotau - Weipert. Because of the difficult route of the railway line in the mountains of Neudorf ( Novoveský vrch ) and Mucke Bergs south ( Komáří vrch ) applied so that the train station 2 km north-west of the city lies.

In 1917 was made another attempt to revive the Sonneberg mining, but the mine was not profitable.

Since the beginning of the 20th century a greater exodus from the remote town. In 1930 the town had 1,586 inhabitants, in 1939 there were only 1,255. The expulsion of the almost exclusively German population after the Second World War led to the desolation of the city, which at first bore the name Suniperk. She lost its city charter. Nowadays there live 215 inhabitants. Since January 23, 2007 Vysluni is a city again.

Boroughs

The city Vysluni consists of the districts Kýšovice ( Gaischwitz ) Sobětice ( Zobietitz ) Třebíška ( engine Ischl ), Úbočí ( Zieberle ) Volyně ( Wohlau ) and Vysluni ( Sonnenberg ). Basic settlement units are Sobětice, Třebíška, Úbočí, Volyně and Vysluni. To Vysluni also the settlement Nové Domky heard ( Neuhäuser ).

St. Wenceslas Church

Today's St. Wenceslas Church was the third church of the town. After the first church was burned down in 1640, was built from 1658 to 1658, a new, erected stone and clay construction. Until the establishment of a separate parish in 1726 Sonnenberg was gepfarrt to Sebastian Berg.

1843 burned the second church by a lightning strike from again.

This was followed by 1851-1857 a new building in the Romanesque Revival style. The new, dedicated to St. Wenceslas church of 35 m length and 20 m wide with a square presbytery of 10 meters on each side was equipped with five altars. The last wedding and baptism in the " Cathedral of the Erzgebirge " took place in 1959. After the church was closed and soon became a work of Kunstschändern and vandals. Pieces of equipment were transported to Přísečnice ( Preßnitz ), which remained in the church, was destroyed. The organ was thrown into the nave. 1981, a fire was started in the church tower, which destroyed the entire tower and the church roof. It was only a matter of time before the ruin would come for demolition due to further wanton destruction, as the communist authorities had no interest in the preservation of church buildings.

After the change of political conditions a fund for the conservation of St. Wenceslas Church was founded in Vysluni and collected donations in 1997. In 1998 the church was declared a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The first part of the conservation measures was carried out in 1999, he included work to restore the statics of the roof of the nave. The second section of the renovation work is the reconstruction of the roof and the tower, which began in 2000. Main sponsor was there, the state forest enterprise of the Czech Republic in Hradec Králové, which provided about 250 m³ of timber available. The tower was covered with copper sheet. The Church should continue to receive a permanent exhibition on the rafting, the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic. The third phase of construction has been started in 2002 with the renovation of the roof and the roofs of the nave, including the aisles. The renovation of the façade including restoration of the sandstone sculptures of the portal took place in 2003, and the floor was restored. 2004, the work has been continued on the roof of the nave.

Additional points of interest

On the market square are on the right side of the road to Vejprty ( Weipert ) three Baroque sculptures, representing the Mother of God, St. John Nepomuk and Anne with Two Others. On the left side there is a memorial stone from the year 1897. Most striking building in the market is the town hall of 1846.
