Vyšní Lhoty

Vyšní Lhoty ( German Upper Ellgoth ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers southeast of Frýdek- Místek and belongs to Okres Frýdek- Místek.

Geography

Vyšní Lhoty is located on the right bank of the Morávka at the foot of the Moravian- Silesian Beskids. Due to the location of the scale to enhance the inflow of the dam Žermanice feed channel Morávka - Žermanice, the water from the Morávka runs forwards in the Lučina. In the east, the Malá Prašivá rise (706 m), Prašivá (843 m) and cupel (872 m ). To the northwest lies the premises of Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech.

Neighboring towns are Bukovice in the north, Hranice, America and Kamenité in the northeast, Oblesky in the east, in the southeast Raskovice, Benátky and Kamenec in the south, Janovice the southwest, Záhoří Baščica and Baska in the west and Skalice and Nižní Lhoty in the northwest.

History

The village was built during the colonization of the area at the end of the 13th century by Pašek Mudry Warmunda, a courtier Duke Mesko III. founded by Teschen. According to him, in 1292, first mentioned as a place Lhota Mudry, Lhota Moudrého, Warmuntovice or Warmundovice was called. The place was located on the old Salt Road Solárka.

Originally the Dukes of Cieszyn associated village came to the city Friedeck, which together with surrounding villages pledged to Ernst von Tworkau 1434. It was of Vyšní and Nižní Lhoty talk first. 1573 sold Duke Wenzel von Teschen the village together with the whole Fried Ecker rule to the brothers George and Matthias von Logau and it separated so that finally abandons the Duchy.

1640 was the owner of the domain, Georg von Oppersdorff, build a wooden sanctuary on Mount Prašivá. Since 1700, the municipality uses a seal. The inhabitants subsisted on agriculture and weaving.

After the abolition of patrimonial upper Ellgoth formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Teschen. Since the end of the 19th century the Czech name Horni Lhota was used. In 1900, the National Exhibition for weaving and agriculture took place in the village. From 1908 the town belonged to the district Friedeck. The Silesian Beskid Club built in 1921 a mountain hut on the Prašivá.

After the Second World War Vyšní Lhoty was assigned to the Okres Místek and came to its dissolution in 1961 Okres Frýdek- Místek. From 1980 Vyšní Lhoty belonged under the name Morávka 4- Vyšní Lhoty to Morávka. Since 1990, the community Vyšní Lhoty there again. The Home Office set up in 1994 in Vyšní Lhoty the reception center of the refugee camp in the Czech Republic.
