Forest on Schoberpaß is a municipality with 620 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013) in the north of Styria ( judicial district or district of Leoben ), approximately 40 km west of the district capital of Leoben.

Geography
Geographical Location
Forest on Schoberpaß is located on Schoberpass between the Lower Tauern and the Eisenerzer Alps. The pass separates the basins of the Paltental that drains to the Enns and the Liesing whose water flows into the river Mur.
The Schoberpass is the lowest crossing of the Alps in Austria. The water- distinctive point here is so low that only let the flowing waters recognize the pass crossing.

History
The place has changed its name several times over the years. For the first time has documented the names Vualde 925 and Gaizzerwald 1074. Has your currently valid official name Schoberpaß forest on the community only since 1945., 1849, the municipalities Melling, advantages and undergrowth have been united into a single community. The individual mayors are consistently detectable only from 1892. Who was the first mayor, is no longer detectable.
Coat of arms
The current coat of arms of the municipality was created in 1970. It shows the symbol hammer and chisel, which aims to reward the magnesite past years, about three fir trees symbolize the name of the place " forest ".
