Geography

Walting is located in the district of Eichstätt and thus in the nature park Altmuhltal. The place is the parish seat ( branches: Rieshofen, inching and Rapperzell ).

History

Until 1803 Walting was an office of the Prince-Bishopric of Eichstätt and was from 1500 in the Frankish Empire circle. It then belonged to the Principality of Eichstätt of Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany. Since the peace treaties of Brno and Bratislava in 1805 the place belonged to Bavaria. The municipality was created in 1818.

Incorporations

At the municipal reform joined on 1 January 1972 Gungolding, Pfalzpaint, Pfünz, Rapperzell, Rieshofen and Walting the new community Walting together. On May 1, 1978, added inching.

Culture and sights
