Wängi

Reformed Church and Cemetery Chapel

Wängi is a municipality in the district of Münchwilen the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland. The municipality is located in the Murg Valley, about 10 km away from both Wil and of Frauenfeld. It is not to be confused with the Bernese Wengi.

History

The first mention of Wängi dates from the year 818 by the local authorities Anetswil, Krillberg, Tuttwil and Wängi were in 1969 for the unified community Wängi united. Then came on 1 January 1996 also the villages Heiterschen and Jakobstal the political community Wängi.

Traffic

Wängi is well connected to the public and to the private transport. The village lies on the route of the Frauenfeld -Wil -Bahn, as well as on the main road between Frauenfeld and Wil. About two kilometers northwest of Wängi is the easy motorway access to the A1 towards Zurich and St. Gallen.

School

There is also the school Wängi, which has a triple gymnasium, a multipurpose hall. These rooms are used among other things for various occasions ( Musikverein Alpenrösli, performances nightly entertainment, ... ). The school Wängi differs in five major systems: the village school house, Steinlerschulhaus, schools Imbach I and II and the triple hall with the multi-purpose hall.
