Water polo at the 2009 World Aquatics Championships

The Water Polo World Championships 2009 took place during the World Swimming Championships in 2009 in the Italian capital Rome from 19 July to 1 August. The 96 games ( per 48 for men and women) were held at the Foro Italico.

In the men's team of Serbia was able to secure the title. She won the final against Spain with 14:13 after the six-yard throw. Third was the defending champion from Croatia. The German team ended at the end of the sixth.

World Women's Champion was the defending champion United States, whose team prevailed in the final against Canada. Third place went to the Russian team. Germany reached the tenth place.
