Wendy Melvoin

Wendy Ann Melvoin ( born January 26, 1964 Los Angeles, California) is an American guitarist and singer- songwriter. She is well known for their collaboration with the musician Prince, and as part of the duo Wendy and Lisa. In 1985 she was awarded a Grammy.

Life

Wendy Melvoin and her twin sister Susannah Melvoin were born on 26 January 1964. Her father Michael Melvoin was a jazz pianist and former president of NARAS. Her older brother Jonathan Melvoin (1961-1996) was a keyboard player with the band The Smashing Pumpkins on tour.

Career

A friend of Wendy Melvoins father was a session musician Gary Coleman. His daughter, Lisa Coleman, since 1980, musician Prince ' band, they put in front of Prince in 1982. Wendy Melvoin played a session in his hotel room, whereupon Prince she took as a guitarist to his former album project in 1999. Melvoin and Coleman became members of the band was founded in 1983 Prince and the Revolution.

After the dissolution of Prince and the Revolution in 1986, Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman formed a joint funk and rock band called Wendy and Lisa, with which they film the music for the two television series Crossing Jordan (2001-2007) and Heroes ( 2006 to 2010 ) composed.
