Werner Bruschke

Werner Bruschke ( born August 18, 1898 in Magdeburg, † February 17, 1995 in Halle ( Saale) ) was Minister President of Saxony -Anhalt in the GDR.

Life

Bruschke graduated in Magdeburg trained as a locksmith. He joined in 1912 the Socialist Workers' Youth and 1916 the SPD. In 1917-18 he performed military service. Until 1927 he worked as a locksmith in Magdeburg. After that, he was full-time functionary of the SPD and in 1933 became a member of the state parliament.

From 1933 he worked as a tobacconist and later an insurance agent. Because of its illegal political activity in 1939 he was accused of high treason, was remanded in custody and protective custody and 1942-1945 prisoner in the concentration camps of Sachsenhausen and Dachau.

From 1945 he worked in the SPD district board Magdeburg. On 1 December 1945, he was the successor of the crashed Willy Lohmann as Vice President of the Province of Saxony.

He was 1946 President of the Government of the district of Magdeburg. 1946-1948 he was Minister of Finance of Saxony- Anhalt and 1946-1949 with Bernard Koenen SED state chairman. From 1949 he was a member of the People's Chamber and from 1950 a member of the Central Committee of the SED. 1949 to 1952 he was Minister President of Saxony -Anhalt, after the Council of the District Hall Chairman, District Tags deputy and member of the SED district leadership. In 1955 he resigned from his full-time functions for health reasons.

Bruschke has been repeatedly awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit, including 1988 with the honor Clasp to the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold. In 1960 he also received the Order of Banner of Labor, 1973 Karl -Marx- Orden and 1983 the Order Big Star of International Friendship.
