West Dorset

West Dorset is a District in the county of Dorset in England. Administrative center is the city of Dorchester. Other important towns are Beaminster, Bothe Hampton, Bradpole, Bridport, Broadmayne, Broad Windsor, Charminster, Charmouth, Chickerell, Crossways, Lyme Regis, Netherbury, Poundbury, Puddletown, Sherborne and Yetminster.

The district was formed on 1 April 1974 and evolved from the merger of the boroughs of Bridport, Lyme Regis and Dorcheste, of Sherborne Urban District and Rural District Beaminster, Bridport, Dorchester and Sherborne.
