William Warburton

William Warburton ( born December 24, 1698 Newark-on -Trent, † June 7, 1779 in Gloucester ) was an English critic and Bishop of Gloucester.

Life

Warburton was born in Newark. His father, who belonged to an old Cheshire family was there, community correctional officer. Warburton received his education at the Oakham and Newark Grammar School. In 1714 he continued his education at the attorney Kirke in East Markham, Nottinghamshire. After completing his training, he returned to Newark, there to complete his practical training as a lawyer. In 1736 he published The Alliance Between Church and State in response to Benjamin Hoadlys publication of 1735.
