Young Americans (Album)

Young Americans is published in 1975, ninth studio album by David Bowie, with whom he wanted to assert claims to the American music market. He left the musical rock sound of his previous albums, and took Young Americans within a week in the Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia with predominantly African-American soul and funk musician and John Lennon on.

Formation and style

Unlike any before and after Bowie's albums recorded the influence of soul and funk for the various titles is almost universally felt. This earned him the accusation one to play "Plastic Soul". Bowie hired various musicians from the funk and soul scene like Luther Vandross and Andy Newmark to create an authentic sound. He also worked for the first time along with Carlos Alomar, who was to accompany him for almost 30 years on. "Across the Universe" and "Fame" were recorded in Electric Lady Studios with John Lennon. The album was very successful in the U.S. and reached the top ten of the charts.
