Koné came to Europe in 2005, after he had already played for Raja Casablanca, Qingdao Zhongneng and Olympique Safi. His first stop was U.S. Lecce in the Italian Serie A. Even the winter break of the 2005/06 season he left the club again and joined the Norwegian giants Rosenborg Trondheim. Again he came infrequently used, but could win the championship in 2006. Only in qualifying for the UEFA Champions League 2007 /08 he became a regular player. In four games, he scored six goals and qualified for the group stage. He scored four goals in the games against FC Schalke 04 and FC Valencia and Chelsea.
In summer 2008, the striker left the Norwegian record champions and joined the reigning Romanian champions CFR Cluj. With the Cluj he met in the group stage of the Champions League 2008 /09 Chelsea, Roma and Bordeaux. With the Cup victory in 2009 he won his first title, scoring ten goals in the championship, but that was not enough to defend their title.
In the first half of the 2009/10 season Koné missed, although some games due to injury, but was able to defend his place. At the end of the season was the double of the league and a renewed Cup victory. In the following season, he was automatically qualified graced with his club for the Champions League, but resigned in the group stage as Table behind Bayern Munich, AS Roma and FC Basel.
At the beginning of 2011, Koné returned to Norway and signed for Vålerenga Oslo.
Although he was born in Korhogo, a town in the Ivory Coast, he runs internationally for Burkina Faso. He's been on 18 missions. His last international match was to date on 19 January 2010 during the Africa Cup in 2010 against Ghana.
