Yucca filifera ( trivial names in other languages: Palma China, Palma Corriente, Maji o Baji, Tambasi Yucca ) is a plant of the genus yucca (Yucca ) in the family of asparagus plants ( Asparagaceae ).

Description

The solitary growing Yucca filifera stem -forming and reaches a height of from 10 to 15 meters. With up to 50 branches it is one of the most extraordinary ways. The variable rosettes are 0.4 to 0.8 meters wide. The stiff, rough, green 0.3 to 0.8 meters long leaves form at the leaf margins fibers.

Yucca filifera is another member of the Section Yucca, serial Treculianae. It is related to Yucca decipiens. However, it can also easily be confused with yucca Yucca valida and periculosa. Yucca filifera has one of the largest areas of distribution of the species. Typical is the drooping inflorescence. It is reminiscent of the giants of the Mojave Desert Yucca brevifolia.

In the Botanical Garden of Huntington in California grow old, 15 m tall plants. Yucca filifera is growing in Mexico, Central, and Eastern Mexico. The main distribution area is located in the Chihuahuan Desert in the states of Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosi, Tamaulipas, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo and Michoacán in different soil types, in planes or on rocky slopes at altitudes 500-2600 m. The first description by J. Benjamin Chabaud under the name Yucca filifera was published in 1876. A synonym for the species is Yucca australis Trel.
