Yugoslav Ice Hockey League

The Yugoslav hockey champion has been played since 1939. The Master was determined within the Yugoslav Ice Hockey League, which was the major league of Yugoslavia.

Yugoslavia in 1939 was inducted into the International Ice Hockey Federation. In the same year the first correct Yugoslav Championship was held, which was won by SK Ilirija Ljubljana. While in the 1950s the HK Partizan Belgrade dominated the championship, one of the two top clubs Slovenian HK Jesenice and HK Olimpija Ljubljana could win the title in the next three decades most.

In 1991, the Yugoslav Hockey League was dissolved, when the SFR Yugoslavia split. Since there are three independent national championships with the Serbian League, the Croatian League and the Slovenian league. Formal played the Hockey League of Serbia until 2003 Yugoslav champions.
