Zelená Hora (Vyškov District)

Zelena Hora ( German Grünberg ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers north of Vyškov at the foot of Drahany country and belongs to Okres Vyškov.

Geography

Green Mountain is located on the southeastern waste of Drahany country. To the north is the Truppenübungsplatz Brezina. On the south end of the village are the remains of old Slavic castle Dolni Mejlice which is attributed to the Great Moravian Empire. To the east lie the ruins of the castle Melice from the 14th century.

Neighboring towns are Drysice in the east, and Pustiměř Pustiměřské Prusy in the south, as well as Radslavice and Radslavičky in the West.

History

Around 1720, built on the site of the village of a few houses. 1763 left the Olomouc Bishop Maximilian of Hamilton its noble loggers clearing land establishing a village that originally consisted of six houses and was named Kopčany. In 1766 the village had grown to 21 houses. Later, the place was known as Green Mountain.

After the replacement of patrimonial Kopčany / Green Mountain was formed in 1850 the Town of Pustiměř in the District Commission Vyškov. Since the second half of the 19th century, the place name Zelena Hora was used. Since 1880 Kopčany or Green Mountain is formed an autonomous municipality. Since 1921, the church bears the official name Zelena Hora. During the German occupation in 1940 was the decision to expand the firing Wischau to a large military training area of the Wehrmacht. Among the 33 for the setting up of the training area Wischau to -clearing villages, belonged in the first, until October 31, 1941 to be implemented stage also Grünberg. The village had 521 inhabitants at that time and consisted of 93 houses. The two windmills on the hill Nad Bochtálem at the eastern edge were demolished in 1941. After the end of World War II the town was settled again in June 1945. In the 1960s, the incorporation took place after Pustiměř. Since 1990, the municipality of Green Mountain is back there.
