Želnava
Želnava ( German: Salnau ) is a municipality with 125 inhabitants ( 2006) in the region of South Bohemia in the Czech Republic. The town was first mentioned in 1360.
History
Želnava is located in the Bohemian Forest, a region where the timber industry is very significant. For purposes of the transport timber in the 19th century was built the 3.8 km long yeasts warrior Schlitterbahn, a channel which connected the Schwarzenberg navigational canal with the river Vltava. Also at this time was here a Holzumladeplatz; Rafts were tied and floated down the river from here. Until 1961 this wood was floated.
