Žermanice

Žermanice ( German Zermanitz, also Schermanitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located five kilometers south of Havířov and belongs to Okres Frýdek- Místek.

Geography

Žermanice is located downstream of the dam the dam Žermanice at the Lučina in Beskidenvorland in Silesia. To the east lies the dam Těrlicko.

Neighboring towns are Horni Bludovice in the north, Zaguri, Horni Těrlicko and Těrlicko in the northeast, Zelené Město and Rozsudek in the east, Pitrov, Krosov and Soběšovice the southeast, Lučina in the south, Bruzovice the southwest, Velicesta, Špluchov, Závrší and Kaňovice in the west and Osekovice and Dolni Datyně in the northwest.

History

The first written mention as Zylmanice took place in 1450. Supposedly older traditions that are to come from the second half of the 14th century, are not detectable. 1461 bought by the owner of the goods Horni Bludovicer Jan Hundt to Kornitz the village. He was followed in 1483 joined his two sons, of whom it bought from January Trnka of Ratiborzan and acquired his 1488 Castle Friedeck. Until the abolition of the village of patrimonial rule Friedeck remained submissive.

From 1850 Zermanitz belonged to a district municipality in the district of Upper Bludowitz Teschen. 1875 a school was built in the village, previously was Bruzovice the school location. In 1880, opened a distillery in the town, it was decommissioned in 1937. Gained its independence in 1890 Žermanice. As of 1910, the village belonged to the district Friedeck. Between 1940 and 1945 Zermanitz was part of the German district of Teschen. After the war, the place came back to Czechoslovakia and was assigned to the Okres Místek. Since its dissolution in 1961, he belongs to Okres Frýdek- Místek. From 1951 began above Žermanice the construction of the dam. In 1985, the city was incorporated into Lučina. Since 1990 Žermanice is self again.

  • Žermanicer Quarry ( Žermanický lom ), who applied for the construction of the dam break is a natural monument since 1992. It is located northwest of the dam and is home to a large population of pigs comb.
