ZhoÅ™ (Tachov District)

Zhoř ( German Weshor, also Weshorsch ) is a municipality with 164 inhabitants ( 1 January 2004) in the Czech Republic. It is located 11 km south of Stříbro at an altitude of 502 m asl and belongs to the Okres Tachov.

History

The first mention of the town dates back to the year 1239. A Berni rula from the year 1654 to 1655 Weshor was described as the largest and most valuable village of Kladruby monastery's possessions. 1715 was born in the town center, the chapel of the Virgin Mary. The parish was in Kapsch. 1939 lived 301 people in Weshor.

To January 1, 1980 Zhoř was incorporated into Kladruby u Stříbra. Since November 24, 1990 there is a separate municipality again.
