Zoltán Hetényi

Zoltán Hetényi (Hungarian Zoltán Hetényi; born February 18, 1988 in Budapest) is a Hungarian ice hockey goaltender who stands since November 2013 in Alba Volán Székesfehérvár from the Finnish Austrian Hockey League contract. His brother Péter Hetényi is also hockey players.

Career

Zoltán Hetényi began his career at the Hungarian series champion Alba Volán Székesfehérvár and soon established himself as a backup goalkeeper behind Krisztián Budai. The breakthrough came in the 2007/ 08 season, when he caused a stir with stunning performances in the Austrian Hockey League and finished the season as the second best goalkeeper of the league. In the following the EBEL Playoff Hungarian League he scored a sensational sovereign catch quota of 94.36 %.

In the 2008 /09 season, he served as a backup of Szuper, who joined the first goalkeeper to Alba Volánbusz, but could not repeat the excellent performance of the previous season. Therefore, after the change of Szuper to the Hannover Scorpions of the Finn Tommi Satosaari was engaged as first goalkeeper before Hetényi. In the season 2010/11 he was a total of 32 times for his team in the ÖEHL between the posts, but had to because of the defensive weakness of his team at a good catch rate of 91 percent on average 3.65 goals per game suffered.

Besides the game operating in the Austrian league, Hetényi comes regularly for Alba Volánbusz in the Hungarian Hockey League used and won with his team in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 seven consecutive national title. For the season 2011/12 he moved to Jokerit Helsinki SM- liiga of Finland. For the team, he played in the preseason two games in the European Trophy. For the rest of the season, he was also eligible to play as Players out on loan for Kiekko -Vantaa from the second-rate Mestis. At the end of the season, he finished in third place with Jokerit of the Finnish championship, but was not given a new contract. The 2012/13 season he spent with the Cincinnati Cyclones and Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL before he was in May 2013 committed by Tappara Tampere. For Tappara he first ran on in the European Trophy in 2013, before he was loaned to LeKi from the Mestis. In November 2013 he returned to his hometown club back to Székesfehérvár.

Internationally

For Hungary Hetényi took part in the U18 Junior C World Cup 2004 and the U18 Junior B World Cup 2006 and the U20 Junior C World Cup in 2005 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 2006 and 2008 at the junior level. In the senior level, he stood in the squad of his country at the B World Championships 2008, 2010 and 2011. During the B Championship 2008 in Japan he broke Budai as a backup of the Hungarian National Team goalie Levente Szuper off and scored on his single game shutout against Croatia. He also ran for Hungary at the 2009 World Championships A in three games.
