Intermediate water is a municipality in the western Austria Vorarlberg in Feldkirch district with 3110 inhabitants (December 31, 2013).

Geography

Intermediate water is located in the westernmost province of Austria, Vorarlberg, in the district of Feldkirch to 525 meters. 71% of the area is forested. The highest point of the municipality is the mountain Hoher Freschen (2004 m above sea level. A. ).

The municipality consists of the villages Muntlix ( 1,550 inhabitants), Batschuns ( 1,200 inhabitants) and Dafins. Muntlix the capital of the province is where there is also the municipal office ( council offices ) and the main intermediate school are immersed.

The special feature is that none of the three villages bearing the names of municipalities. This is derived from the location of the municipality between the waters of the two rivers Frutz and Frödisch.

Neighboring communities

The community has a common intermediate water municipal border with six other municipalities in Vorarlberg. Of these, five ( Viktor Berg, laterns, Rankweil, Sulz and Roethis ) are as well as intermediate water in the political district of Feldkirch and one - namely, the capital district Dornbirn - Dornbirn in the district. Just south of the summit of the High Freschens the municipalities of Dornbirn, intermediate water, Viktor Berg and laterns meet at a common point.

History

The Habsburgs ruled the areas in Vorarlberg changing of Tyrol and Further Austria from ( Freiburg im Breisgau). From 1805 to 1814, the town belonged to Bavaria, then back to Austria. For the Austrian province of Vorarlberg Zwischenwasser heard since the foundation in 1861. The place was from 1945 to 1955 part of the French zone of occupation in Austria.

The proportion of foreigners at the end of 2002 was 12.3 percent.

Policy

The municipal council consists of 24 members. After the local council elections of 2010, the People's Party 13, the Free voter list above 7 and the Independent list of names has 4 seats in the municipal council. Mayor since 1 July 2013 Kilian Tschabrun. This was chosen by the local council to succeed Joseph Mathis, who had previously been confirmed in 2010 in the Mayor direct dialing with 79.02 % of votes in office.

Sport & Tourism

Zwischenwasser offers through its nature and landscape diversity numerous recreational opportunities; especially for hiking, mountain biking, skiing and snowshoeing.

Furthermore, the municipality has a small ski resort with 2 drag lifts in the district Furx. By equipping with a floodlight system is thus also the possibility of night skiing.

Culture and sights

Churches and chapels

At this point, a house of worship was erected in 1715 and the present church was 1917/18 largely rebuilt.

The contract to build its first church was Clemens Wood Master 1921 by Kaplan Albert Drexel. The church was built in 1921-1923 as the first church of Vorarlberg in the style of the interwar period. The foundations for a neo-Gothic construction already existed when the new project against great resistance was enforced. Wood master takes here already Some anticipate what will be in his later churches of importance: On the one hand, the transfer of material from the local building culture (including materials and hand-crafted details) and on the other hand, the formal increase of the structure to the symbolism. The architect Bernhard and Stefan Marte from Weiler have the cemetery and mortuary expansion is planned for 2002 - similar to what was discussed at the time of the church.

This church was built in 1958-1962 and consecrated in 1962. The facade bears a mosaic of St. Fidelis of Schrunser artist Konrad Honold, who also designed the concrete glass window. Next to the church stands a war memorial - consisting of many different lengths of metal rods. On the wall is a metal cross and on each rod is a metal plaque with the names of the dead or missing.

This chapel was built in 1724.

Structures

This " Batsch Our Schlossle " was built before 1601 as stand hunting of Feldkirch patrician Brock of White Mountain.

This is a designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser textile factory. He designed in 1988 in parallel also the street name and house number plaques in intermediate water.

The built modern 1994 wooden structure serves primarily the physical education classes, but is also used for various celebrations. The building also includes a library and the guest house Frödisch.

When Osangbrücke, which crosses the Mühltobel, there is a covered wooden bridge. The building was restored by the villagers under the leadership of the Cultural Association Dafins in 1999.

Economy and infrastructure

At the site there were in 2003 30 companies in the industrial sector with 175 employees and 30 apprentices. Taxable wage -employed, there were 1,301.

Education

At the site there are (as of January 2003) 345 students.

In intermediate water, there is also three kindergartens, three elementary schools and a middle school
