Team changes
The Everett Silvertips took at the beginning of the season as the 20th WHL franchise on the game mode. The team was in the U.S. Division set, which now consisted of five teams. The Silvertips played a successful first season and won the division title next to the Conference Championship after last year's champion Kelowna Rockets defeated the Western Conference finals. The Everett Silvertips were in the best- of-seven series already with 1:3 games in arrears before they could decide for themselves the following three games each in overtime. This was the first time that won a play- off series against the best team in the regular season, a new franchise. In addition, never earned an expansion team a WHL Conference title. The WHL final lost against the Medicine Hat Tigers Silvertips with 0:4 games.
