Česká Lípa District

The Okres Ceska Lipa (German: District Bohemian Leipa ) is located in northern Bohemia, situated between the Czech Central Mountains, Jeschke Mountains and the Bohemian Paradise. He is part of the Liberec Region (Region Reichenberg ). (For lasting from 1938 to 1945 during the Nazi occupation see Bohemian district Leipa. )

To 1,073 km ² live about 102,600 inhabitants in 57 municipalities, 11 cities, 196 districts in which 81 % of the population lives. The population density of 95 inhabitants / km ², the lowest in the county, the average age of 36.3 is the lowest in the Czech Republic.

53% of the population is employed social insurance contributions. 40 % of all employees work in the industry. The most important sectors are the glass industry and the automotive supplier. Once one of the most important industries, the mining of uranium, hardly plays a role today. The average wage is above the average of the circle, however, is lower than the national average.

On January 1, 2007, the city Jablonné v Podještědí and the community Janovice v Podještědí in the Okres Liberec changed.
