Fichtelgebirge Club

The Fichtel Mountain Club eV ( FGV ) is a great hiking and home club in Bavaria and recognized nature conservation organization with 18,500 members in 55 local chapters. His main field of activity is the Fichtel Mountains in northeastern Bavaria. Its emblem is the seven-pointed star.

Purpose of the Association

Maintenance of hiking, training of hiking guides, marking of trails, construction and maintenance of rock climbing equipment, observation towers and accommodation houses, conservation work and nature conservation foundation and landscape conservation, promotion of indigenous culture, monument protection, the Fichtelgebirge Museum and other native and natural history collections, publication of the club magazine The Seven star and other home literacy, youth work and youth care.

History

1878, the section Fichtelgebirge was founded by the German and Austrian Alpine Club in Wunsiedel, who accepted only the development of the Fichtelgebirge from the beginning. 1888, the Alpine Club section of FGV was dissolved and established with its headquarters in Wunsiedel. The line took a long time, the respective forester of Wunsiedel. In the surrounding villages emerged in the course of time, local groups to the membership of the turn of the 20th century rose to 1000. An upswing took the club after the First World War, in 1924, it included 38 local groups with 7000 members. After the Second World War, which largely brought the association's activities to a standstill, a rapid reconstruction, while also strong and versatile youth groups were formed took place. 1936, the headquarters of the association was moved to the courtyard, the relocation to Wunsiedel was 2003/04.
