Glauzig is a district of the city in the district of Southern Anhalt Anhalt- Bitterfeld, in Saxony- Anhalt.

Geography

The village lies between Glauzig Köthen (Anhalt) and Halle ( Saale). South of Glauzig flows the part of the Fuhne which drains towards the Saale and later in the same.

History

Glauzig was as Gluseck ( Glutzeck ) first documented in 1253. The name probably derives from the name of the former Gaus or Untergaus Coledizi.

Industrial history

In 1847, a raw sugar factory was founded with refinery in Glauzig. In April 1872, a conversion of the sugar factory was a joint stock company with a capital of 4,500,000 marks. The sugar factory also took over 2367 acres of farmland, consisting of the manors Glauzig, Piethen and small Weißandt, the Fabrikgut Arens village and the fields in Görzig. Furthermore, lease agreements with the domains Gnetsch, remote village and Riesdorf Knights goods wholesale Weißandt and Edderitz and some rural and religious fields were made, so that together 7200 acres ( 1838 ha) were to manage available.

In 1914 the sugar factory Glauzig connection received on the railway network. In 1923, a further expansion of the sugar factory, so that the increase in production rose to about 40,000 quintals per day.

After the end of World War II in 1946 the sugar factory was dismantled and transferred as reparations to the Soviet Union. On the grounds of the former sugar refinery, a tobacco fermentation facility was built. In 1950, the acquisition of tobacco fermentation took place by the VEB in raw tobacco.

In 1990, the end of the tobacco processing. Today the Tobacco Factory stands alone in Glauzig. A few years ago the largest tower at the top was blown up because of the danger of collapse.

Until the formation of the unified community Southern Anhalt on 1 January 2010 Glauzig was an independent municipality in the administrative community Southern Anhalt with the associated district Rohndorf ( on July 1, 1950 incorporated by Glauzig ). Last Mayor of Glauzig was Volkmar Schöbe.

Culture and sights

In the village center there is a park.

In the years 1963-1965 an outdoor swimming pool with a volleyball court, beer garden, youth club and tennis court was built in-house capacity of the citizens of the village. Today, the pool Glauzig has additionally 2 beach volleyball courts.

In 1985, the sports club was founded Glauzig 85 eV.
