Lenterode

Lenterode is a municipality in the administrative community uder in the Thuringian district of calibration field.

History

The first mention Lenterodes falls in the year 1260, the name referred to the clearing of a Lenthilde. The place belonged to Electoral Mainz until the secularisation, 1815-1945 he was part of the Prussian province of Saxony. In 1945 the city to the Soviet occupation zone and was since 1949 part of the GDR. From 1961 until the turn and reunion 1989/1990 Lenterode was affected by the closure of the nearby German border. Since 1990, a part of the place to Thuringia.

The honorary mayor Albert Herold ( FWG ) was re-elected on June 6, 2010.

Culture and sights

Always on the fourth Sunday in May and November will be held the fair in the village hall. The event will begin with the traditional funfair excavation on the green and ends at the same place with the fair funeral.

In 2010, the 750 -year-old local anniversary with a week of 14 was held to 24 May 2010. The highlight of the Festival presented the play The television heroes of the amateur dramatic group specially formed dar.

Among the attractions of the place include St. Catherine's church with a Baroque altar and the waiting Lenteröder, a former watchtower on the border.
