Geographical location

Effelder lies on a limestone slab in Obereichsfeld south of the ridge in the Westerwald Nature Park Eichsfeld Hainich Werra. Just east lies the Thuringian Basin. In the village arises from the Borngasse from a ducted since 1976 in stone, hidden behind a locked door source of Kellerborn, a southern tributary of Lutter.

History

Middle Ages to 1900

Effelder was in 1215 as Effeldere ( for names Origin: affoltra means Old High German apple tree ) for the first time in a document, issued by Pope Innocent III, above, who took the Klosterzella in his protection, and his possessions and rights, including Effelder confirmed. where the Benedictine monastery at that time had 40 hooves, the Lutter and the monastery mill and the church, and thus exercised the right of patronage over Effelder. Attractions

The church in 1892 newly built " St. Alban " was created as a joint venture of the village. As a builder of belonging to the Franciscan monastery Hülfensberg brother Paschal was asked who created his masterpiece here.
