Bernterode ( at Heiligenstadt ) is a municipality in the Thuringian district of calibration field. It belongs to the administrative community Ershausen / Geismar.

Geography

Bernterode located in Obereichsfeld about eight kilometers south of the county town of Heiligenstadt. The place is located in a valley south of the Kalteneberschen height ( with the Ebersberg: 494 m) surrounded by the peaks of Hopfgarten ( 480 m) in the southwest, Oak Mountain ( 445 m ) in the northwest, Kirchberg ( 454 m ) in the east and Heubergarena (453 m) in the southeast. Other neighboring towns are Martin field in the southeast, and Krombach in the southwest.

History

A Henricus de Bernharderode was first documented in 1290. The place at that time belonged to the dynasty of samples. From heavy floods the place in 1732, 1926 and 1982 was affected. The coat of arms was granted on 4 October 1996 and is a so-called speaking crest that represents the name of the place. Similar representations emerged as early as 1950.
