Maap

Maap is the third largest island in the Yap Islands, a small archipelago in the western Pacific. This is located approximately 1300 km from New Guinea and 870 km from Guam.

The densely forested island is located between the islands Rumung in the northwest and Gagil - Tomil in the south. From Rumung it is separated by the 140 -meter wide and 700 meters long estuary Yinbinaew, and Gagil - Tomil by the minimum 66 meters wide and 2100 meters long estuary Yunearawëy ( Yuneroway ).

A permanent connection with Gagil - Tomil is by artificial causeway. At the northern Nachbarinsei Rumung lead boat compounds, mainly from the coastal Bechiyal.

At the 2000 census lived 592 inhabitants in 115 households, slightly more than in 1994 when 547 people lived in 114 households.
