Mansfeld-Südharz

The district of Mansfeld- South Harz is a town in the south of Saxony- Anhalt. It was formed in the wake of the district reform from 1 July 2007 by merging the former districts Mansfeld and Sangerhausen.

Historical development

During the Middle Ages had been established on the territory of the district multiple systems of domination. The largest proportion had the county of Mansfeld, in whose area the cities Hettstedt, Lutherstadt Eisleben and Gerbstedt were. Geography
