Matoury

Matoury is a commune with 29,235 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Overseas Territory French Guiana in South America.

Geography and transport

Matoury is not far from the Atlantic coast, in the catchment area of ​​the agglomeration of capital and largest city of French Guiana, Cayenne. The municipal area is the only international airport in French Guiana, the Aéroport international Félix Éboué is (until 2012 as Aéroport international de Rochambeau known). It is located 13.5 km south west of Cayenne. There are road links to Cayenne, Remire -Montjoly, Régina and Kourou.

Population

With 29,235 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Matoury is one of the largest communities of French Guiana. In recent years, the population increased sharply, thanks mainly to its convenient location in the agglomeration of Cayenne. In 1999, the population stood at 18,000.
