Pötting

Pötting is a municipality in Upper Austria in the Gries district churches in Hausruckviertel with 539 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Gries churches.

Geography

Pötting is located on 381 m altitude in Hausruckviertel. The expansion is 6.5 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 3.2 km. The total area is 7.5 km ². 5.3% of the area is forested, 84 % of the land used for agriculture.

Coat of arms

Blazon: In a silver green, diagonally left, humbled wave bar; above a golden geradarmiges Paws High Cross, down a golden wisp. The municipality colors are green - yellow-black.

The coat of arms was granted in 1992. The cross stands for the church patronal feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, the Irrlicht recalls the legend of the " Lichtl in der Au", on the redemption waiting, restless soul of a drowned trying to escape in a pond criminal. The wave bar symbolizes the municipality flowing through drought Aschach.

History

Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality of Austria above the Enns attributed.
