Rosiers-d'Égletons

Rosiers- d'Égletons is a commune with 1067 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Corrèze, in the Limousin region. The municipality is a member of the Association of Municipalities Ventadour. The inhabitants call themselves Rosiérois (it).

Geography

The municipality is located in the Massif Central on the upper reaches of the Montane and is surrounded by vast forests and fields. Tulle, prefecture of the department is located about 25 kilometers southwest and Égletons about five kilometers north-east and Ussel approximately 34 kilometers north-east.

Neighboring communities of Rosiers- d'Égletons are Saint- Yrieix -le- Déjalat in the north, Égletons in the northeast, Moustier- Ventadour in the east, Chapelle- Spinasse and Montaignac -Saint -Hippolyte in the south, Eyrein the southwest, Vitrac- sur- Montane in west and Sarran in the northwest.

History

The territory was inhabited in prehistoric times, as numerous worked flint finds prove. Relics from the Gallo -Roman period are also shown. Today overtaken by Égletons in meaning Rosiers- d'Égletons was around 937 the capital of a Viguerie.
