Shevchenkove
Schewtschenkowe (Ukrainian Шевченкове; Russian Шевченково / Schewtschenkowo ) is an urban-type settlement in Ukraine in the Kharkiv Oblast with 6,873 inhabitants ( 2013).
It is divided into the real estate and 8 villages Werchnjosorjanske ( Верхньозорянське ) Sorjanske ( Зорянське ) Mychajliwka ( Михайлівка ) Ohurziwka ( Огурцівка ) Perwomajske ( Первомайське ) Rajiwka ( Раївка ) Sasoniwka ( Сазонівка ) and Trojizke ( Троїцьке ).
Location
Schewtschenkowe is located about 75 kilometers southeast of Kharkiv on the train route Kharkiv Lugansk.
History
The place is founded in 1896 in the wake of the construction of a railway line and named after the landowner " Bulazel " Bulazeliwka ( Булацелівка ) or Russian Bulazelowka ( Булацеловка ). In 1922 it was renamed in honor of the Ukrainian poet Schewtschenkowe Taras Shevchenko, who is said to have worked well in place. Since 1935 it is the capital of Rajons Schewtschenkowe, 1957 he was elevated to a urban-type settlement.
