Geography

Taufkirchen an der Trattnach situated at an altitude of 377 m above sea level. A. in Hausruckviertel. The extension is 7 km from north to south, from west to east 6.6 km. The total area is 24.6 km ². 13.8 % of the area is forested, 77.6 % of the area is used for agriculture.

Blazon: Argent, on a blue wave bar of two red bars pieces is uplifting, besteckter with a red cross red chevrons. The municipality colors are red, white and blue.

The coat of arms granted in 1974 points with cross and waves on the place name, the wave beam is the same for the Trattnach.

Culture and sights

Parish Taufkirchen an der Trattnach

The church is dedicated to St. Martin (11 November ). The parish Taufkirchen has long been subordinated to the Prince-Bishop of Passau and belongs to the diocese of Linz. The Branch Church in Hehenberg ( altitude mountain ) is the hl. Consecrated Vitus (15th June). The Church in Roith (part of the moated castle Roith ) was razed in the Reformation times, by order of the emperor.

The organ building family Steininger was a long time resident here. 17 organs and over a hundred new harmonies were built here.

Castle Roith

From the former moated castle of the Erdsubstruktionen, 1820 dewatered pond and outbuildings remain. Roith was a Pfleggericht. In 1956 the Count Walderdorff came to Roith.

Sons and daughters of the town

  • Josef Krempl (* February 11, 1862, † April 4, 1914 in Vienna), dialect poet, was born in the village of Obertrattnach.
