United Nations Security Council Resolution 5

The resolution 5 of the UN Security Council is a resolution in its 40th meeting by ten votes and one abstention ( the Soviet Union) decided by the United Nations Security Council on May 8, 1946. It deals with the situation in Iran.

The Security Council adopted a report by the Iranian government on 6 May 1946 went to the note, which was introduced as a result of Resolution 3 of 4 April 1946 and according to this could not be determined whether the full withdrawal of Soviet troops from the territory of Iran was completed.

The Security Council postponed future steps in the Iranian issue in order to enable them to verify the complete withdrawal of troops, the Iranian government.

From the Iranian government a report on the subject was expected at the earliest opportunity. If this was not possible, a report containing the information available up to that point should be submitted on May 20.

The Security Council was planning to advise immediately after receipt of the report on further steps.
