1928 Atlantic hurricane season

The 1928 hurricane season officially began on June 1, 1928 and ended on 30 November 1928. These data limits for the amount of time each year, usually from when most tropical cyclones form in the Atlantic basin.

The season of 1928 was not very active, but very eventful. Six tropical storms formed during the season. Four of them were hurricanes. Only one was a big hurricane.

Storms

A Category 2 hurricane hit Central Florida near Melbourne. Another hurricane hit Südkuba, weakened to a tropical storm and roamed the southwest coast of Florida to near Apalachicola to go ashore. A tropical storm hit Mexico in early September.

Okeechobee Hurricane

The most notable storm of the season was the Okeechobee Hurricane ( Hurricane San Felipe Segundo also ). This Cape Verde hurricane was the first measured hurricane in the Atlantic basin, which reached the intensity of category 5.
