1947–48 Mexican Primera División season

The season 1947/48 was the fifth season of the Mexican professional football league, which operated at that time still under the name Liga Mayor.

Because Leon and Oro had completed the season level on points and the champion was determined either by goal difference ( which would have tipped the scales in favor of León ) nor the direct comparison ( the Oro in his favor chose ), had the championship for the second time after the opening season 1943/ 44 are decided in a separate playoff. This was posted on June 27, 1948 at the Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes discharged and had scoreless after 120 minutes still not found a winner, so a replay was required, which was held two days later at the same place. Here León retained thanks to goals from Pablo Pérez ( 52 ) and Rodolfo Moncada ( 65 ) the upper hand and was able to win the championship for the first time. However, neither team scored as many goals as the club León ( 87) was able to record even the most wins this season: at home against a 9-0 Marte ( 30 November 1947) and a 10:1 away at Atlante ( 21 September 1947 ); the only double-digit win of the season at all. Nevertheless, there were five other encounters in which a two-digit number of hits was also recorded: on October 4, 1947 between Oro and España ( 6:4 ), on November 9, 1947 between Asturias and Atlas ( 6:5 ), on 25 December 1947 between Marte and América ( 5:6 ), on April 8, 1948 between España and Veracruz ( 5:5 ) as well as at June 20, 1948 between América and Marte ( 3:7 ).
