Final Table

Course of the season

In the south were the not included in the Bundesliga clubs FC Bayern Munich and Kickers Offenbach, the clear favorites for the first two places. Surprisingly, however, picked up the tithe of the league season 1962/63, Hesse Kassel, the championship in 1964 in the Regionalliga Süd before Munich and Offenbach. Taking the human situation at hand, the success of Northern Hesse is no longer so surprising. With Heiner Dittel ( Viktoria Aschaffenburg ), Rolf Fritzsche (Hamburger SV) and Gerd Becker ( FV Breidenbach ) were added three new entries, all of which were direct hits. Stopper Dittel stabilized the defense, Fritzsche conducted the attack on the left wing and stormed the young Becker in 36 matches and scored 19 goals. Through these three gains, the left runner Helmut Huttary unfolded, Striker Ernst Kuster came up with 20 goals and the Half- Left Klaus -Peter Jendrosch won even with 35 goals scorer crown in the south. The championship team of trainers and qualified sports teacher Walter Müller was passed decisively with 30:8 points in the preliminary round in the way. Bayern Munich had to cope with the start of the disposals of the service providers Willi Giesemann ( HSV) and Peter Grosser to local rivals 1860 Munich. The new coach Zlatko Čajkovski tried to compensate for this with the new additions Dieter Koulmann (SC Schwenningen ) and Werner Ipta ( FC Schalke 04 ). On the Bieberer mountain disappointment over the non- nomination to the Bundesliga was still so present that the realistic analysis of the seventh place of the round 1962/63 was omitted ( some players from the successful league era had passed the zenith ) and main course for the future ( position of the coach should have been measured on the profile of Paul Oßwald, the talent had developed around talent in Offenbach) were missed. Striker Engelbert Kraus moved to Munich in 1860 and Sigfried Held and Georg Tripp should provide new impetus in the Kickers attack. After the 8th Round Offenbach led the table with 14:2 points ahead of Kassel and Munich, each with 12:4 points to. After the preliminary round of the OFC was but with 25:13 points to fourth place. The two defeats against the later relegated BC Augsburg and Borussia Fulda suggested as particularly negative impact. In the second half of Kassel, Munich and Offenbach came on each 25:13 points, and thus the seats were allocated for the promotion round: Hessen Kassel and Bayern Munich took part, Kickers Offenbach ( Hermann Nuber, Siegfried guest), Schwaben Augsburg ( Kurt Haseneder ) and SSV Reutlingen ( coach Georg Wurzer ) had to deal with the ranks of three to five satisfied.

The SpVgg Neu-Isenburg year ended December 15, 1963 with a 1-1 draw against " winter champions " Hessen Kassel the first round. With 17:21 points the team was with the talent Peter Dietrich on the twelfth. With 10:28 points the team from the Offenbach district in the back round balance sheet was last and thus increased along with Fulda ( goalkeeper Theo Diegelmann; amateur striker Hans -Jürgen sky man; Striker Bernd Windshausen ), BC Augsburg ( with returnees Ulrich Biesinger ) and Amicitia Four Home ( collected in the pre- as in the second half only eleven points) from.

The top scorer led Klaus -Peter Jendrosch (Hessen Kassel) with 35 gates, Rainer Ohlhauser (Bayern Munich) with 33 gates and Rudolf Bast ( VfR Mannheim) with 22 goals.

The South Vice Bayern Munich opened the promotion round on June 6, 1964, a slightly out played 4-0 away success at North champions FC St. Pauli. Same time, since the secret favorite Borussia Neunkirchen with 1:5 goals in not so strong assessed Berlin Master Tasmania lost 1900 ( three goals from center forward Heinz Fischer), everything seemed to be on the rise of the team of coach Zlatko Čajkovski to suggest. A 1-0 away win in Munich on Matchday in Neunkirchner Ellenfeld Stadium - FC Bayern 5-1 points stood at the top - it looked like everything went. The team of coach Horst Buhtz, Borussia Neunkirchen, but turned in immediately following the second leg in Munich the tables, and won 2-0 gates. Goalkeeper Willi Ertz had a Glanztag and could keep his body against the scorer Ohlhauser Rainer and Dieter Brenninger clean. Group 2

The West champion Alemannia Aachen was the clear favorite in the group 2 Although the FK Pirmasens had surprisingly turned off in the qualifiers to Wuppertal SV, they gave the Pirmasensern little chance of success against the Tivoli team. The 0-3 defeat of Alemannia in the stadium at the Zweibrücker street in Pirmasens was bang on the opening day. Despite the leading player Branko Zebec, Christian Breuer and Joseph Martinelli Aachen started with a defeat. The North Vice Hannover 96 decided the game in Kassel with two goals within 60 seconds by Werner graves in the 77th and 78th minutes for themselves. Since Aachen also lost the second game 0-2 against Kassel and center forward Walter Rodekamp with two goals before 55,000 spectators in Niedersachsenstadion Pirmasens pointed in his place, the team coached by Helmut Kronsbein had a good starting position. On Matchday Aachen was final after the 1-2 defeat at Hannover from the promotion race. This did not change even the 3-2 home victory in the second leg on 20 June nothing more.
